Tutorial: Ripping Subtitles in .srt format

HOW TO RIP SUBTITLES (.SRT FILES) FROM .VOB FILES USING SUBRIP

I'm assuming that you're already capable of ripping XviD/ DivX-AC3.avi files from a DVD using DVD Dycrypter, which comes with Gordian Knot 0.35.0.

Whether the DVD has any subs or not can be checked from a .txt file that is generated by DVD Dycrypter when those VOB files were ripped from a DVD. Open the text files (eg. VTS_02 - Stream Information.txt) and you'll see something like this:

Quote:
0x20 - Subtitle - English - [SubPicture 01: Normal] / LBA: 757 / PTS: 00:00:02.560 / Delay: 2200ms
0x80 - Audio - AC3 / 2ch / 48kHz / DRC / English, English / LBA: 31 / PTS: 00:00:00.280 / Delay: -80ms
0xE0 - Video - MPEG-2 / 720x576 (PAL) / 4:3 / LBA: 1 / PTS: 00:00:00.360 / Delay: 0ms
As you can see if there is any subs available it will report that, followed by the language of the subtitle. In this case, we can see that there is English subtitle available. Now follow the steps below:

1. First, you need to download a small software called SubRip, available here. Just open the SubRip.exe file and and you're ready for it.

2. Select the VOB button.

3. Select the Open IFO button.

--> Go to folder where you have kept all VOB and IFO files. Once you're in the destination folder, you'll see something like this:

--> Now select the appropriate .IFO files and then you'll see this:

4. At this point, make sure the FPS (frame per second) of the Subtitle window (that appears below the Subrip window,) matches with the VOB's FPS. Just press Pause/Abort button to change the FPS to macth with the VOB's FPS[/b]
