The original ripper can and should modify the id3 tags. If anyone else wants to go into the trouble of modifying someone else's id tags just for stealing the credit, I guess there's no simple and effective way of preventing that. However your average person usually does not go into that much trouble.
Also conceivably using the same ripper with similar settings might result in similar file sizes.
