| JaZaman is right. You are probably burning DATA dvd, not DVD-Video Disc. If you have proper codecs Nero can convert .avi files to DVD files, but will take LONG time and much disc space. You can also make mpeg first, then dvd as mentioned above. I personally prefer direct conversion, which reduces less data/quality loss. Unless it's a movie that you really want, making dvd out of .avi is not economical. I bought Philips DVP-642 for $70 from WallMart.
