Square Hospital Presentation - A Passionate Appeal to All

Square Hospital Presentation - A Passionate Appeal to All

I am posting a presentation made by the Square Group for their hospital. It has a very touchy and passionate appeal. I like it very much. Probably it was presented to a Bangladeshi medical professionsals living in USA by the Tapan Chowdhury of that group.. I have no connection with that group but I do support the theme of this presentation. It says “Together we all can bring the change”.

FLV player is required for running this file. Many might have experienced trouble playing it.

A very well made add indeed. If I consider emotionally, I can say.. Wow! How sweet! How touchy!!!!

Considering it practically reminds me of those innumerable amazingly talented people including doctors in Bangladesh. Most of their talent and skills are not being utilized properly; many of them are frustrated like anything. Moreover, if someone is away from his country that does not keep him away from being patriotic, from contributing to his country’s development.
We must not forget Money sent by non-resident Bangladeshis every year play an important role in Bangladesh's economy.

Why Square hospital needs a "foreign returned" tag!!! Most of the brilliant doctors are already in Bangladesh, they did not leave the country.

Thanks again tarunno for sharing this file!

Thank you very much for the comments. I am an emotional person so I see it emotionally. But it is true that we don't have better oppertunities in our country. We can't even accommodate the existing man power. What is happening now is the best lives the country for better future leaving it on the hand of the worst. I heard another statistics. The among the people of our courtry living abroad, the common class sends most of the money as they leave there family back in Bangladesh. People who are better skilled has a tendency to take their family there. Inshallah this trend will change. And then we will definitely see some positive changes in life there.

I think square made this appeal as we go to a doctor with lots of degree from foreign countires. So they are trying to convince the doctors living outside. We have good doctors but the service they provide is very poor. I saw many doctors who see about 80-100 people per day. They have ofcourse thier hospital duties with that. So you can expect the service there. That's why people go to India for better treatment.

Thsi is all ofcourse my way of thinking. Many may have differnt views. Bye...

You are very welcome tarunno. I would like to add some more..

Bangladesh may not have enough food, enough money but trust me it is over flown with brilliant doctors. Only problem is the brains are clustered in the capital city, they need to be distributed through out the country. So, square hospital (I believe is being established in Dhaka) is not making any difference. Moreover this is very silly that people try to go to India, Singapore or Bangkok for treatment. There are some treatments which are not available in Bangladesh that is true but many are done in there better than in abroad. Even people prefer to go to private clinics or lucrative hospitals, the irony is the best treatment in BD are available in Govt hospitals especially those medical college hospitals. Yes, their facilities may not be as good as those but they certainly have the best doctors. For example, NICVD has the best cardiac surgeons in Bangladesh, but people will prefer private clinics and hospitals because of their shiny covers.

What ever the data says, what I have seen in real life is different. Highly skilled people living abroad are sending money back home regularly; they may have their spouse and kids with them but their parents or extended family are there, they even send for unknown needy people. Many of them are trying to do something for Bangladesh, many of them trying to improve the IT sector there, doctors sending money to poor people, they try to visit the country often and serve people for free. All these wouldn’t have happened if they were in Bangladesh. Whenever there is a disaster, some one needs money for treatment, someone needs help; the non-resident Bangladeshis come forward.

If someone does not want to serve his soil, he will not do that even if he is living there in Bangladesh (Like those corrupted people, those muggers, those corrupted doctors, engineers, dishonest teachers, or spoiled kids of powerful parents in BD). Most of the non-resident Bangladeshis hold their country in their soul, Bangladesh is their passion, is their Dreamland, they try whatever they can to do for their country. Yes I am not denying there are people who are living abroad and all the do is criticizing our country, when go to visit they just act like snobs as if they were born in Mars. But they are very few; they would have behaved same way if they were not living abroad.

I think this add is just another copy of current Indian trend, where they are calling back their brilliant kids home. In comparison with India, Bangladesh has less than enough people/student abroad (I mean for higher education or for gaining skills). For many years India exported their skills, now they are having the fruit of it. With the use of those international brains they are the leading power in IT world and to some extent medical world now. We dream of a Bangladesh like that, we need to send many more Bangladeshis abroad for learning and gaining better skill.

Thanks for your nice discussion. I agree with you 100% that Bangladesh has very skilled manpower (Not only doctors). It is also true that Govt. hospitals hold the best facilities in our country. But I have doubt about your statement that people go to a clinic because of their appearance. I don’t know about you but I have experience with these doctors in the Govt hospitals. They all are involved with private practice and they suggest people to go to a particular clinic for treatment. Even if you go to a doctor with some test results, he sometimes tells to do it again in a particular place. So we, the general people don’t have much choice. So it is the problem of mentality not skill. Have you ever asked any of these skilled doctors to explain your problem or the problem of your near one? I did and believe me most of the cases the result were terrible. I heard a lot of bad words from them. Here in a foreign country, the doctors explain things in a nice way but in Bangladesh the situation is completely different. I am not telling all doctors are like this but most of them are.

I agree with you with the fact that skill people also contribute to the economy. But my point was the labour community contribute more as their only goal is to develop the condition of their family back in Bangladesh. You must agree that the first priority in a man’s life is his family. Others come second. A labour may send 60% of his income back home but a skill person can’t do that. He has to think about the future of his family living with him. So his contribution is very low. Monitory it may be bigger than the 60% of the labour but statistically it is not. He also does not do it in every month like a common labour.

I personally know some people who are providing funds for the charities in Bangladesh. But you must agree that making a people self supporting is more important than giving him money in times of need. The contribution of skill people are discrete in our country and there needs a platform to make it uniform. Govt can’t do that and it does have the trust of the people. But we together can do it. We are giving money, food to the poor but that is not changing his condition. We should try to make them independent. I believe that you feel more about your country when you live in a foreign land. You want to contribute more towards its development. The skill you have learnt here can be a very good asset for the country. So some of us should go back there. Others may contribute by guidance and other supports. You can’t contribute well unless there is a positive response from the other side. These hospitals are providing the platforms for the doctors. A very good surgeon can’t perform without the equipments and these hospitals are providing that. All of these hospitals are not in Dhaka. I saw an add at NTV about a very good Medical College hospital in Enayetpur, Sirajganj. I do believe that if you create opportunities in the country, skill people will contribute more. You don’t have to call them back. And it is not important to go back but it is important to do something for our land. Skill people should explore knowledge by going abroad but the mother land should at least have some of its benefits.

Above all words, if you have patriotic heart you will try your best for your country wherever you stay. Bye….

I agree with those last lines.

I really do not want to discriminate skilled professionals with unskilled laborer. I believe both group of people left their beloved country in search of better life, to earn better money. All of them are trying to provide their family, offering them a better life with their hard earned money, be it in Bangladesh or abroad. As unskilled laborers outnumber skilled professionals, they sure send more money to Bangladesh.

I believe this discussion was not regarding the list of charity non resident Bangladeshis do, because of that did not provide any list like,” 2004 e Rafikul ke ekti dokan baniye diyeche probashi Bangladeshi ra, 2005 e Kalam ke duto chasher goru kine diyeche, Shamsul ke Rickshaw kine diyeche…etc etc” All I said “they may have their spouse and kids with them but their parents or extended family are there, they even send for unknown needy people” . Helping unknown needy people does not necessarily mean sending hard cash to them when they ask for it!

There are medical college hospitals in remote areas, not only the one you mentioned but there are number of pre existing medical college hospitals in remote villages. I mentioned in my earlier post; it is better to go to a medical college hospital than to a private clinic. If there is a specialized hospital like NICVD, BIRDEM
