Charlie Rose interviews Dr. Yunus in PBS couple of years ago. This is by far the most interesting interview I have seen to date. It was sleeping in my old VHS archive. With all the talk going on I thought I share this with others in BT. Question of high interest rate does come up at one point in the interview.
Length: 54min Format: xvid

Thanks for sharing pandit. I believe I watched it on TV and called many to say "hey our Doc Yunus is on PBS", I did same when I saw him on CNN where he came to Arron Brown's show with Mr Ted Turner. I will never forgive A. Brown for being so arrogant with Doc.Yunus whereas Mr Ted Turner was very respectful. It was shocking to see how A.Brown was changing his tone, he was trying to please Mr Turner and was not very respectful with mr Yunus; The ignorance was obvious. I stopped watching A.Brown's show ever since.
The day Mr Yunus won Nobel Prize, I could not help thinking about that very show, I wished I could call A.Brown and tell; guess what? Bangladeshi Doc.Yunus got the Nobel Peace Prize!
Thanks for this post Pandit, I can watch it now(as I do not need to inform others that our Md.Yunus is on PBS) :-)

It is that familiar condescending attitude that we often see on US media while interviewing someone from a Muslim country. A. Brown is usually more restrained in his shows compared to others. In these days of Bill O’ Reilly, Limbaugh and Hannity, even CNN is beginning to succumb to that kind of wicked and aggressive culture in media. I stopped watching American news channels longtime ago, mostly depend on NPR/PBS/BBC and other independent foreign outlet for news and analysis besides the print media.

Unfortunately I cannot agree with you about A. Brown. I used be very fond of him & had same impression as you do but ever since I watched him interviewing Gen P. Mosharraf and Doc.Yunus, I know his calm look can turn into a shrewd and harsh one within seconds. About Bill O’ Reilly, he is a republican, anyone against that political belief has to go through twister with him, Muslims or non Muslims, Americans or non Americans. Bill O’ Reilly is mean with everyone. For quality news there is ABC, CBS, NBC (CNN, FOX, MSNBC are so biased and full of themselves!).

I did not see shows with Gen. Mussharaf or Dr. Yunus. So I have to take your word for it. As for billy_boy, I saw him interview Condi Rice, he seemed way too egar to agree with her in everything after throwing super soft-ball questions. He acts tough with most guests, but the venom really comes out when it is someone from ACLU or democratic party.

Thanks. As I said, O' Reily is a devoted republican and does not spare anyone besides republicans :-)
