Oh fahsan,
you are missing something very important in the IT world. there is akash-pataal
difference between bit and byte.
a bit is the smallest unit of information that can be stored or manipulated on a computer; it consists of either zero or one. the data we transfer has every single bit and all
8 bits make one single byte. so if you have a connection of 2 MBit/sec connection you will see 2000/8=250 KB/sec (kilibytes/second). I have 4 MBit/sec connection double duplex that mean I get nearly 500 KB/s rate in both direction.
