Transferring Recorded data from sky+ box to PC

I have recently subscribed to Sky+ which allows me to record tv program directly to 80GB harddisk with a TV quality (2GB/hr). But I have no idea how to coonect this sky+ box to computer to transfer the recorded program. If anyone knows how to do it i will be very thanksful to him/her. And I will be able to release great quality drama, Telfilm...for our BT Community.

Thanks in advance

Re: Transferring Recorded data from sky+ box to PC

but after you transferred the files to your PC you can then convert them into avi with divx or xvid codecs and you may earn some space but still good quality of picture and sound.

Ofcourse i will convert the traferred media with divx/xvid codec before i do anything with them. But first i need to connect my sky+ box or Sky + HDD to my computer. I am searching in the web for a reliable solution. Thanks TeolABM bhi for your nice reply.

Re: Transferring Recorded data from sky+ box to PC

i have no idea abt this specific device on how to connect it to your PC but as the rules it should have any kind of connection slot/port. if not then you may try to record the file into a re-writable DVD and transfer the file into your PC. no other way as the rules.....

good luck!

Re: Transferring Recorded data from sky+ box to PC

# 1 solution
think it is possible. I have a dvr fro dishnetwork by which i can record tv program directly to hdd of that dvr. i also can tranfer all program from dvr hdd to pc. dvr hdd use linux. so u have to download a software pvrexplorer. after installing that soft....u have to open the case of sky+ and open the hdd data cable...hook it up hdd data to usb cable converter and connnect usb to the usb port of the computer. run the pvr explorer soft then u will see the whole dir of the sky+ in your computer....select them download them...it's too fast...like data transfer between two hdd.

# 2 solution

u have to buy capture card that will help u to rip the recorded video from sky+ to pc but it will take the whole program time...because u have to play the recorded tv program and capture the video to pc by using capturing soft...and it's real time recording
