Nice pics! Great mall! I saw it when it was under construction last year. But I didn't stay in BD long enough to walk inside it. :( Well... let's hope I go back soon to shop there! __________________  ·´`·.(*·.¸(`·.¸ ¸.·´)¸.·*).·´`· ·´*·.¸¸.\\*~*Ъ м ﻛтҹLє*~*//.¸¸.·*¨`· .´`·.(¸.·´(¸.·* *·.¸)`·.¸).·´`. :Music: | 10-28-2005, 04:01 AM | | Erudite | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 174 Thanks: 1 Thanked 45 Times in 4 Posts Rep Power: 24 UL: 1.71 gb DL: 434.45 mb Ratio: 4.03 | | | | 10-28-2005, 04:05 AM | | Erudite | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 174 Thanks: 1 Thanked 45 Times in 4 Posts Rep Power: 24 UL: 1.71 gb DL: 434.45 mb Ratio: 4.03 | | | | 10-28-2005, 04:07 AM | | Erudite | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Posts: 174 Thanks: 1 Thanked 45 Times in 4 Posts Rep Power: 24 UL: 1.71 gb DL: 434.45 mb Ratio: 4.03 | | | | 10-28-2005, 09:28 AM | | Inquisitive | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Posts: 8 Thanks: 33 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Rep Power: 0 UL: 142.50 gb DL: 37.76 gb Ratio: 3.77 | | | Oh my God! You can go there to spend sometime window shopping (if you don't need to do shopping). I visited this shopping mall twice last year while I was in Bangladesh. Excellent architechture, nice glass roof which allows entry of light, ventilation is perfect, shops are nicely placed, moreover, there are 7/8 theatres where you can watch latest(almost) movies. I felt lacking of one thing- a good fast food shop. If they have some of renowned food shops like Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King or KFC people can enjoy their food. Food quality is not so good in the food courts available there. Otherwise, it's a place to go. | 11-13-2005, 07:49 AM | | Inquisitive | | Join Date: Nov 2005 Posts: 2 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts Rep Power: 0 UL: 0.00 b DL: 0.00 b Ratio: - | | | I went to basundara in April, it was fantastic inside,it is truly a huge developmental step for bangladesh It is a sign of economic growth, but I agree with 'Dream'. Bangladesh needs food, medicines and education more then these types of buildings forthe rich. | 11-13-2005, 09:45 AM | | Deferential BT Legend | | Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Queens, NY Posts: 426 Thanks: 15 Thanked 845 Times in 43 Posts Rep Power: 32 UL: 183.08 gb DL: 1.26 gb Ratio: 145.53 | | Yes, definitely education. The key input for economic growth comes from technological improvement, which derives from education. Also, education helps lower population growth. Specially girls in education, professional women = a method to decrease the population growth rate. This particular point can be explained further if anyone hold the interest. Bangladesh doesn't need food, there are enough people to work and grow food, its just that we need to move half the people back to village from dhaka. Big business like bashundhara is good but there is a bad side to it. If majority investors are from other country, then they are actually using our resource and taking away our oppurtunities. Most of the products are being sold comes from foreign countries, which actually helps those country more. Funny how here in America we buy products made in Bangladesh from well known stores, yet in Bangladesh people are always looking for foreigh products even though sometime the quality is worse. By opening up big stores and importing products doesn't really help the country's economy to grow and it is defnitely not a sign of economic growth. It would be much better to open up more garments and other exporting facilities. EPZ is doing a fine job in that matter! Another great way to help economy grow is by saving. If people in bd saves alot of money and puts in the bank, it will give domestic investors oppurtunity to invest, by taking out loan from the bank, and the profits will remain in our country. Dream bhai er shathey ami 100% ek mot na. tar kotha ektu modify korte chai. BD needs education, food, medecine, basha-bari AND this type of mega malls. Good thing is its near hotel Shonargaon and not so far away from sheraton where ppl from abroad may come and stay. It might help Bangladesh to expose her potential as a developing nation. Here in abroad many ppl don't know that Bangladesh is a separate nation with seperate language and seperate govt. I hope this type of effort may help us to be known to all the ppl in the world. I know there is several downside to these projects but there is upside too. Onek nirokhkhor ba olpo shikhkhito lok ei jaygay kisu chakri korar shujog pabe. May be, you and I can afford to buy things from there but more than 80% wont. That inability will create more corruption, more young people will choose wrong path for fast money(like mugging). As we don't have enough food and medicine for all our fellow country men, government (and all political leadres) should encourage establishing more hospitals, schools, diagnostic centres in perpheri than lavish shopping malls.
