In doing this are we not afraid that we might lose our own culture. I know that some will say that this is progress and others like me will say that we are afraid that what the grass on the other side looks like that is green but in is in fact not. Let’s have your opinion on if this is a good thing or not. __________________ Thanks a lot......... now it's chai time Long live BT I take no responsibility for the consequences of traumatic flashbacks. | 09-25-2008, 06:41 PM | | Deferential | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 272 Thanks: 459 Thanked 63 Times in 7 Posts Rep Power: 27 UL: 213.95 gb DL: 38.54 gb Ratio: 5.55 | | | Re: The lose of something beautiful Nice (& maybe controversial) topic. Different people think in different way. So, there may be differences among opinions. It would be better if we could only take the good things from western society. Alas! I'm afraid that reality is totally different. When you open your window, not only fresh air comes through it, but also many bacteria, virus, insects come along with that. After living for 3.5 years in 2 western countries, it's my experience that there are a lot of good things to be learned from western society (as well as bad things). We can learn to be hard-working, honest, punctual, liberal & so on. What we are usually taking from them?- their fashion, music, cinema, alcohol-drinking habit, fast food culture. I'm not talking about all but I'm talking about many of us. I can see some people are fasting in this month on holy Ramadan. But I saw them drinking alcohol at bar, restaurants and even at their home. Many of them get support from their partners as well, sometimes they also participate. Still I think, many Bangladeshi people are doing very well professionally, doing hard work, leading a balanced life, earning honestly, doing everything him/herself. To me- I would like a western honest people than a so-called religious, dishonest Bangladeshi people as my friend. | 09-26-2008, 12:21 AM | | Deferential BT Legend | | Join Date: May 2007 Location: I live where i rest my head Posts: 428 Thanks: 387 Thanked 4 Times in 3 Posts Rep Power: 18 UL: 23.58 gb DL: 16.10 gb Ratio: 1.46 | | | Re: The lose of something beautiful Quote: Originally Posted by ferdous_23 Nice (& maybe controversial) topic. Yes do take the good bits from both, but I have seen people from Bangladesh who have been abroad for a short time and have totally discarded their culture and become totally westernized. Is this good or bad; I for one say that this is bad. __________________ Thanks a lot......... now it's chai time Long live BT I take no responsibility for the consequences of traumatic flashbacks. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is On | | | All times are GMT +6.
