DHT is a Ratio Killer

DHT or Distributed Hash Table is a RATIO KILLER and a curse for the private trackers. DHT is good for some sites like MiniNova and Piratebay. Which are open trackers and where speed is not of utmost importance. This is a private tracker, which means that this is a closed place and only registered user with this tracker are allowed to download stuff from here. This is to keep the security of the user, the integrity of the tracker, the load on the server down and to provide the best speeds possible. In short, DHT is a villain in your application, so keep it closed/disabled.. If you have DHT enabled in your client, please don't say that you were not warned for the ratios. DHT will keep on working and will kill your ratio, no matter how many PASSKEYS you have changed or how much protection you have in your PC that is unless and until you disable it.

For private trackers (Like we have @ Banglatorrents) you must have DHT disable when making, seeding and downloading torrents.

For public trackers you can have DHT enable and it will give you better download speeds.

You can have two bit torrent clients running one with DHT disabled (For private trackers) other with DHT enabled (For public trackers).
Just use different ports for both clients.

How to disable DHT in azureus :

Go to: Tools > Options > Plugging > Distributed DB

To disable DHT in uTorrent:

Go to: Options > Preferences > BitTorrent

After disabling the DHT you must restart Azureus or uTorrent.
