How to convert asf to avi/Xvid

Hi BT members,

As you all know when we record dramas/movies/progs from internet tv, the file format automatically chosen by the recorder is asf. Some of us have DVD players which can play Xvid/avi format.

I tried to convert files from asf to avi/Xvid format using ConverMovie software by movavi.com, but the formatted file has time delay between audio/video.

So, please suggest how to convert files from asf to avi/Xvid format.

i also tried to convert files from asf to avi by different softwares, but all in vein. it is waste of time. better leave it or extract the audio first from the original video and then convert the video and finally mix them together. you may then expect very good result. but it takes time :(

I change the extention file name litarally just to replace the name ie,asf,avi,mpg,dat to avi,asf,wmv.Like I used to do in my media classes,ie, ___.doc to ___.htm and so on.
closeup1.dat = ckoseup1.avi
ontor jatra.asf = ontor jatra.mpg
Its works with any OS but I never tried with regular dvd player or dvr,or so on.

Even though you change the extention from asf to avi, the coding format still remains the same as that in asf. When you paly in computer it works as the encoder is already installed in your computer. It doesn't work at dvd as the true format still remains asf.

Also thanks to bEnGaLi tHuG for the link, I will try that way.

thanks for the link, but the verson you named doesnt open any asf file. i tried with many of my files, but no files were opened. and the later versions dont have any support for asf files.

Same here, the version doesn't support asf format. So, still no better solution.

if someone can upload a small sample .asf file to www.maxupload.com then I can try a few things before I give anymore suggestions..

hello guys....i read ur post...I'm not so xpert about this but sometimes i convert from asf to mpeg when i need to make vcd.U may use color 7 vedio converter for make asf to wmv then with xilisoft video converter u can make as u want.though its littlebit lengthy but it works fine.U may try....thanx

Hi All,

I was able to convert asf files to avi without any time delay between audio and video. The software I am using is Win AVI Video Converter. Thanks to bEnGaLi tHuG for suggesting and sending all technical supports.

Most of the time I never have a trouble to convert it but some asf files are in a big trouble caz of audio sync .

If you try this software , I am sure it will work but not for all asf files (leave it on very high conversion like original conversion when converting) .

It works for 99.9% times .........

Ya AVS vedio tool is fantastic particularly version 5.5 .
But do u know any crack or keygen for version 5.5 .

I couldn't find any. If some one know please let us know.

Try Total Video converter. It's amazing. Download its full version with crack from any famous torrents site. Hope it helps.
