There are many other slick ideas. In many cases the implementation is not profitable. For an example, it looks cool that you are typing on a any surface, lasers picking up movements of your finger and simulating as a keyboard. But think about the technology it requires to implement such a brilliant idea. What if the surface isn't plane, if the surface is not reflecting, interference of finger ring w/stones in it etc. Finally you will get a finished product, may be at $200. Most people and me will go for $10 plastic keyboard.
