So we thought of bringing this to a standard and follow this from now on. This will help a great deal and hope you all will add little extra effort to do this. So next time you make a torrent file, make sure you rename your original file/folder similar to this. Acceeptable File Name: [movie/dramaname/band/artistname].[episode/album].[filetype].torrent Lets take one for example: 69 drama episode 105 So the torrent file should be: 69drama.episode105.wmv.torrent Naming Tips: 1. Avoid "Special Characters". (i.e, &$??`@!'*~) 2. If you are uploading something different and you can't follow this, try to be as close as to this possible. and 3. KISS => Keep It Short 'n Simple | 11-20-2005, 01:45 AM | | Deferential BT Legend | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Minnesota, USA Posts: 527 Thanks: 37 Thanked 239 Times in 34 Posts Rep Power: 33 UL: 153.94 gb DL: 74.06 gb Ratio: 2.08 | | | We should also follow this type of convention for a video release:- VideoName.[DvdRip/VcdRip/TvRip/VHSRip].[Mpg/Vob/xVid/Divx/etc] We may skip the type of video, as we can see that from torrent file listing. But having the type in main title allows to know the type without clicking into the torrent thread - not a big deal. But it's important to put Source - VCD/DVD/VHS/TV etc. At the end we may put releaser's name, which is optional. Like I put my web site's name. Only problem is, in the main title when I put VideoName.Source.xVid.UltimateBangla or similar name, it gets shrunk to ... .. . which is really annoying and useless. I think it can be fixed changing codes in the script. For an example, my latest release "GoniMiyarPathor.Vcd.UltimateBangla" is shrunk to some DOTs in the DramaSection's Torrent Listing. I hope this glitch should be fixed. Thanks to admins for working hard to keep this site going. __________________ Hello, R U CDng? | 11-20-2005, 04:25 AM | | Owner | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: USA Posts: 469 Thanks: 68 Thanked 146 Times in 26 Posts Rep Power: 32 UL: 61.47 gb DL: 38.20 gb Ratio: 1.61 | | Quote: | Originally Posted by mehdianis We should also follow this type of convention for a video release:- VideoName.[DvdRip/VcdRip/TvRip/VHSRip].[Mpg/Vob/xVid/Divx/etc] We may skip the type of video, as we can see that from torrent file listing. We certainly thought about these but we've decided to leave it to the releasers either they want to put their names in there. We are not promoting any sitenames to be on the torrent file as people may misuse it to promote their sites. What we stated is a standard format and we should try to stick as close as possible. Same goes with sources. We are not making it a must. Both of these terms has some issues involved with them too. plz pm if you want to learn more about this. As far as big name goes.... there are certain character limits to display a name. A small problem with mysql and an issue with VB. we can change it but it'll just complicate things and not worth it. But may be in future! We'll keep it in mind. As for now my request would be please try to keep it short and simple. good to see u back on board. BT members thanks you zillions for your wonderful releases! Format of the shared file can be found in the torrent page. But the source should be included in the thread Title. Becaus, I can search all thread that has 'DVDRip' in title or 'VCDRip'. I also visit other (hindi) torrent sites. As they grew BIG now it's a problem not to have the source in the Title. If we adopt the good practices and avoid bad habits, in future, when we will grow, we will not face these pesky issues. It's OK about the LNNG file name. We can put SPACE between words than FullStops. Can you please manually replace the FullStops with SPACE in my GoniMiyarPathor Drama thread? Thanks. You are doing wonderful. __________________ Hello, R U CDng? | 11-20-2005, 08:25 AM | | Erudite | | Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: North York, ON, Canada Posts: 234 Thanks: 19 Thanked 183 Times in 28 Posts Rep Power: 24 UL: 58.47 gb DL: 7.82 gb Ratio: 7.48 | | | Do I have to rename my original folder/file too ??? I can easily rename torrent file following this rule but renaming file/folder is not a good idea atleast to me. Coz different users like to name their files differently to keep things organized. As an example I like to rename tv episodes this way [series name] - [episode no] - [name of episode] and mp3 files in this way [track no] - [track title] and I like it this way. It's more readable and organised to me. Plz tell me I dont have to rename every file according to the rules bfr releasing a torrent :( | 11-20-2005, 10:25 AM | | Deferential BT Legend | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Minnesota, USA Posts: 527 Thanks: 37 Thanked 239 Times in 34 Posts Rep Power: 33 UL: 153.94 gb DL: 74.06 gb Ratio: 2.08 | | | Brainwalker, it would not be a good idea to change the existing releases. From now we on we should follow the same convention. __________________ Hello, R U CDng? | 11-21-2005, 08:59 AM | | Owner | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: USA Posts: 469 Thanks: 68 Thanked 146 Times in 26 Posts Rep Power: 32 UL: 61.47 gb DL: 38.20 gb Ratio: 1.61 | | Quote: | As an example I like to rename tv episodes this way [series name] - [episode no] - [name of episode] and mp3 files in this way [track no] - [track title] and I like it this way. We may lose most of our seeders that way. Quote: | Originally Posted by brainwalker Do I have to rename my original folder/file too ??? Coz different users like to name their files differently to keep things organized. | You may or may not change your file folder names. When you make the torrent file make sure you have those elements there. This helps a lot when people look at the file. Even after you download. Remember 90% of the people forget what they did yesterday. It also helps the search engine. Using "dot, ." is the best but you can use "desh, -" or other characters. As fas as the file name goes... the problem is lets say you have a file nale AVSQ02 for "Rupnogor" drama and another person has the same name for another drama. When you download both of these, will create many problems. for example, one may rewrite another. you many not know which is what, and later when you look for that drama you'll find it hard to remember. This is just a simple organizing step from us. Better for all of us. here and also in your computer! No other intension to it. And in today's world if we do not spend some time to organize ourself, after sometime it gets too much to handle. So why not start spending 10 more seconds doing just that!! Now this is not a rule. Rater a guide line. You may follow it but if it is too much out of hand we'll have to do something to keep them organized. So my request'd be lets follow that as a standard from now. | 11-21-2005, 10:08 PM | | Deferential BT Legend | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Minnesota, USA Posts: 527 Thanks: 37 Thanked 239 Times in 34 Posts Rep Power: 33 UL: 153.94 gb DL: 74.06 gb Ratio: 2.08 | | | A Stitch in Time Saves Nine __________________ Hello, R U CDng? | 11-23-2005, 01:16 PM | | Erudite | | Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: North York, ON, Canada Posts: 234 Thanks: 19 Thanked 183 Times in 28 Posts Rep Power: 24 UL: 58.47 gb DL: 7.82 gb Ratio: 7.48 | | | got it BG and mehdianis.
