This is a discussion programme hosted by the chairman of Channel S debating the various aspects of the Sylheti language.
This was organised as a response to another Bangla channel putting forward the notion that the Sylheti language was a barrier to Bangla in the UK - a notion that appears to be shared by a few members of this community.
The guests included various people who have done research on many languages including Sylheti.
The language of the discussion is, obviously, Sylheti but in summary, Sylheti is a language that has existed long before the state of Bangladesh. It has its own alphabet, although the written form is rarely used since Bangla, being the state language, is prevalent. It is recognised internationally as a "living" language with its own representation in Unicode.
